چکیده
Saline stress impairs germination and initial plant growth. However, discontinuous hydration cycles induce osmotic tolerance in seeds can improve the response of maize to saline stress. The objective this study was evaluate action with different salt elicitors on germination, growth, adjustment cultivars. Maize BR 206 BRS 5037 Cruzeta cultivars were subjected following treatments: 0.0 mmol NaCl (control), 250 (salt stress), + three (DHCs) water, DHCs gibberellic acid, hydrogen peroxide, salicylic ascorbic acid. Salt reduced biomass accumulation seedlings—the cultivar outperformed Cruzeta. Discontinuous water failed seeds. acid promoted due increased synthesis osmoprotectants. Our results revealed is appropriate for

Cell and Plant Responses to Nacl in Zea Mays L. Cultivars Differing in Salt Tolerance
Two Zea mays cultivars, salt sensitive Trihybrid 321 and salt tolerant Giza 2, were studied, namely their adaptation to NaCl imposition at cell and whole plant level. Changes in growth and mineral content of roots and shoots, glycinebetaine (GB) and free proline (Pro) levels of shoots, plasma membrane permeability and solute potential (ø s) of leaf sheath subepider-mal cells were measured. NaCl...
متن کاملHalopriming and Hydropriming Treatments to Overcome Salt and Drought Stress at Germination Stage of Corn (Zea mays L.)
To study the effects of halopriming and hydropriming in overcoming salt and drought stress in corn (Zea mays L.),two experiments were separately conducted at Shahrood University of Technology. Seed treatments consisted ofcontrol (untreated seeds), soaking in distilled water for 32 h (hydropriming), and soaking in 50 mmol solution ofCaCl2 for 16 h (halopriming). Germination and early seedling gr...
متن کاملGermination and seedling growth of corn (Zea mays l.) under varying levels of copper and zinc
The heavy metal tolerance in corn (Zea mays L.) var. ‘Neelum’ was assessed at germination and seedling growth after having subjected it to different concentrations of CuSO4 and ZnSO4. Germination was not affected by any of the metal tested, whereas initial growth was strongly inhibited by increasing concentrations of ZnSO4. Seedlings developed toxicity symptoms in the presence of both metals bu...
متن کاملScreening for Salt Tolerance in Maize (zea Mays L.) Hybrids at an Early Seedling Stage
An efficient and simple mass screening technique for selection of maize hybrids for salt tolerance has been developed. Genetic variation for salt tolerance was assessed in hybrid maize (Zea mays L.) using solution-culture technique. The study was conducted in solution culture exposed to four salinity levels (control, 40, 80 and 120 mM NaCl). Seven days old maize seedlings were transplanted in t...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
